Brittany Jones studies United States history, using primary texts and digital archives. She is interested in understanding African American and the American Civil War as a whole from an individual level. She has worked with and using several digital databases including  the Valley of the Shadow and Civil War Washington database connecting people and families and their intersection with the war. She has used these documents to write a thesis on the District Emancipation Acts and their effects on the Civil War and Emancipation. 

Prior to studying at Boston College she earned a BA in History, with distinction, from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.
