Assistant Professor of the Practice in German Studies

Description

Boston College seeks an Assistant Professor of the Practice to teach elementary to advanced German language, literature and culture courses. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment with a 3/3 teaching load and a three-year renewable term, beginning July 1, 2019.

We seek a candidate with native or near-native fluency in German, Ph.D. in hand at the time of application, evidence of excellence in teaching German at the college level, and willingness to advise majors and minors and to participate actively in the life of the department.

We are especially interested in candidates who can participate effectively in interdisciplinary programs affiliated with other departments within the university.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D.
  • Native or near-native fluency in German
  • Excellence in teaching is expected
