What are you most looking forward to as a member of UCTC? As a member of UCTC I am most looking forward to living in community. The current members seem like a family and I am so excited to be a part of the tight knit community. I am excited to get to know everyone!

Why did you choose UCTC? I chose UCTC because of the strong sense of community. As an incoming first year teacher, I knew that I wanted to live in community with other educatiors who would support me and share similar experiences while also being immersed in a Catholic school environment.

Why did you choose UCTC?  With UCTC, I was drawn to the idea of teaching and living in an urban setting. Also, I value the Jesuit philosophy and ideals, and because Boston College is Jesuit, I can continue to learn about and explore these concepts. Lastly, I love the idea of living in a community of people centered around community and spirituality.

What are you most looking forward to as a member of UCTC? What I am most looking forward to is meeting my students and teaching in a Catholic environment whose values go far beyond the classroom. What are you most looking forward to as a member of UCTC? What drew me to UCTC was the opportunity to intentionally engage in a community while growing as an educator. I look forward to learning more about the role that teachers play in urban Catholic education along with the other members of my cohort. I am grateful to be given time to work with Cristo Rey Boston, further explore my faith, and live with other first and second year teachers.

As a first year teacher entering the classroom, it was reassuring to know that I would not be alone. I would be living among a community of other first year teachers who would share similar experiences to my own and would support one another as we grew into effective educators.

What are you most looking forward to as a member of UCTC? The idea of working in urban Catholic education has long been a dream of mine. To be able to return to the Boston area and pursue further education at the Lynch School while also living in community with other teachers beginning their career was an opportunity I could not pass up. I am thrilled to start my experience at Matignon High School and become a part of the UCTC community.

What are you most looking forward to as a member of UCTC? I was attracted to UCTC most immediately by the mission of teaching as ministry. I was also drawn by the opportunity to live in community with other early-career Catholic school teachers and by the unique academic component geared specifically toward students with a background in teacher preparation.

What are you most looking forward to as a member of UCTC? I not only teach science, I also teach people. I strive to create a classroom environment in which students can gain new knowledge and have the opportunity to enhance their growth and development. I am confident that my time in UCTC will provide me with the tools to become a well rounded educator. I am grateful for the unique opportunity to teach in an urban Catholic school while also working to grow as a teacher through graduate studies at Boston College. With the tools I will learn studying curriculum and instruction, I can better serve my classroom everyday. Living in community with members of UCTC will allow me to share classroom experiences, practice collaboration, and strengthen my faith through our common mission.

What are you most looking forward to as a member of UCTC? After attending a Catholic college in an urban setting, and falling in love with teaching, I knew I wanted to pursue a program that encompassed the same components. To me, “men and women for and with others” is at the heart of why we choose to teach.  I was drawn to UCTC because not only can we learn to be better educators in a classroom setting, but we can support each other as members of a tight-knit community dedicated to the same mission.

What are you most looking forward to as a member of UCTC? I was attracted to UCTC because of its mission to serve urban students in a Catholic setting. I connected very strongly to this mission and knew that this was where I wanted to begin my teaching career. The support and community aspect that the program provides also appealed to me, and I knew that it would help me to grow both in my faith and as an educator.
