Hon. Leo Sorokin

Profile

The Honorable Leo Sorokin serves as Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He was nominated by Barack Obama on January 6, 2014, to a seat vacated by Joseph Louis Tauro and confirmed by the Senate on June 10, 2014, and received commission on June 10, 2014. From 2005-2014 he previously serves as U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and as chief magistrate judge from 2012-2014.

Before becoming a judge he worked as a Law clerk from 1991-1994 for the Hon. Rya W. Zobel in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Hon. Leo Sorokin also ran a private practice in Boston from 1992-1994 and worked as the Assistant attorney general for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1994-1997. From 1997-2005 he worked as assistant federal public defender for the District of Massachusetts.
