Carina Katigbak

Biography

Carina Katigbak, PhD., RN, ANP-BC, FAHA is an assistant professor at the Connell School of Nursing. Her research focuses on improving modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease among at-risk immigrant groups. Her dissertation study funded by the Sigma Theta Tau International Doris Bloch Research Award examined community health workers’ roles in promoting heart healthy behaviors among Filipino American immigrants in New York City. In Boston, she employs community engaged research approaches to study tobacco use and physical activity with older Chinese American immigrants. Her work is funded through the Boston College Institute on Aging, and a National Institute on Aging P30 pilot grant with the Boston Roybal Center for Active Lifestyle Interventions. In 2018 she was inducted as a Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA), and was elected to the Board of Directors (Secretary) for the Eastern Nursing Research Society in 2019.
