Experiential learning is a process through which students develop knowledge, skills, and values from direct experiences outside a traditional academic setting. Experiential learning encompasses a variety of activities including internships, TechTreks, and other creative work experiences.
There are multiple opportunities for students to experience the real world dynamics of the Entrepreneurial eco-system. Students are able to apply their knowledge and conceptual understanding to real-world interactions with company executives. These types of activities enhance student learning and help students develop and build upon knowledge, skills, and values associated with thinking like an expert within a field.
Why is experiential learning important?
Students are immersed in real-world business settings giving them:
- Opportunities to take initiative, make decisions, and be accountable for the results
- Opportunities to engage intellectually, creatively, and emotionally with company executives
- Offers students a learning experience that includes the possibility to learn from natural consequences, mistakes, and successes
