Professor Vishal Baloria is interested in the political economy of financial markets. His research develops a fuller understanding of the extent to which political incentives affect the decisions of corporate managers and capital market participants. Using empirical/archival methods, he examines settings in which behavior may have been predictably altered in response to political institutions. His current research projects focus on three interrelated actors: politicians, regulators, and the media.
Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Professor Baloria worked in public accounting, where he earned his CPA designation.
In 2017 and 2018, Professor Baloria was a recipient of the "Teaching All-Star Award" from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
In 2016, Professor Baloria was an inaugural recipient of the "Excellence in Reviewing Award" from the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section of the American Accounting Association. In 2018, Professor Baloria was a second-time recipient of the award.
