Chuck Hogan '89

The popular vampire horror franchise The Strain, developed by Chuck Hogan ’89 and Guillermo del Toro in a series of novels and comics, has reached the small screen in a new FX series which Hogan cocreated. The show began airing in July and can be seen Sunday nights at 10 p.m.

The Strain vampires aren’t pretty and they don’t glitter. They’re gruesome parasites who infect and mutate humans through a DNA-destroying virus. Nonetheless beloved by fans who clamored for this adaptation, Hogan’s vampires have staying power—the series has already been picked up for a second season.

The New Yorker reviews the series.

The Boston Globe notes local connections among Hogan and his collaborators.
