Fighting for Rights
Senior Narintohn Luangrath, whose work on migration and asylum policy issues earned her a Truman Scholarship, has another prestigious award to add to her resume.
She recently received an undergraduate research award from the Forum on Education Abroad, which recognizes outstanding academic work completed while studying in another country. Luangrath was honored for her work as an intern with the Irish Human Rights Commission, where she provided research and analysis for the Irish government on policies concerning refugees and asylum seekers.
Luangrath has also served as a BC Undergraduate Research Fellow for Political Science faculty members Peter Skerry and Jonathan Laurence, who study immigration issues, and Jennifer Erickson, who studies international security.
“Throughout my almost four years at Boston College, I have been lucky to have the faculty and the administration's full support while I explore my interest in forced migration,” says Luangrath, who has also traveled to France to study that country’s ban on the wearing of burqas.
