Boston College’s Day of Service

Saturday, April 12, 2014

Thanks to the generosity of the BC family, the Ninth Annual Boston College Day of Service was a record-setting event. More than 500 alumni, families, and friends gathered around the world in the spirit of being “men and women for others.”

A special thanks goes to the project coordinators in each of the 30+ cities that hosted a service project. Without your hard work, none of this would have been possible.

Remaining Service Projects for BC’s Ninth Annual Day of Service:

Date: Saturday, May 10
Time: 1–5 p.m.
Project Name: Person-to-Person Alumni Food Drive
Address: (behind St. Luke's Episcopal Church) 1864 Post Road, Darien
Description: Assist with the receipt of donated food items during the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Annual Food Drive. This marks the 22nd consecutive year that Person-to-Person will be the recipient of grocery donations during the food drive that spans Darien and Norwalk. More than 50,000 pounds of food – canned goods that will help stock Person-to-Person’s Norwalk and Darien food pantries for 3 months — are expected to be collected from local residents during the event.

Norwalk and Darien Letter Carriers will collect non-perishable foods that local residents leave at their mail boxes early in the morning on the 10th and will deliver the food to Person-to-Person throughout the day. BC volunteers will assist with the unloading of groceries from the postal trucks and sorting the groceries for storage in the Emergency Food Pantries.

As always, friends and family of alumni are encouraged to participate. Volunteers are asked to bring a non-perishable food item (or more) on the day of the event. Don't forget to sport your maroon and gold!
