Instructions for installation and setup Microsoft User Authentication Module (UAM), Version 5.0.11 on a Macintosh running a Mac Classic OS (versions 8.5 - 9.2).
- Click on the following link to download the Microsoft User Authentication Module.
- A file called MS UAM 5.0 will appear the folder you have specified for file downloads within your web browser.
- Drag MS UAM 5.0 into the AppleShare Folder in your System Folder (refer to Figure 1).
NOTE: If it does not already exist, create a folder and name it AppleShare Folder.

Logging onto an Windows NT 4.0 Server
- From the Chooser, select the AplleShare icon by clicking on it (refer to Figure 2)
- Select the name of the AppleTalk zone which contains the server you want to connect to by clicking on it
- Select the name of the server from the menu labeled Select a file server
- Click Ok

- When prompted to connect to the server, click the radio button labeled Registered User and enter your Boston College Username and password (refer to Figure 4).

Note ITHelps is an NT 4.0 server Make sure the checkbox labeled “Require strong authentication (NTLMv2) is NOT checked - Click Connect
- From the dialog box labeled Select the items you want to use, click on the name of the item so it appears shaded(refer to Figure 5.

Logging onto a Windows 2000 / XP Share
- From the Chooser, select the Applesauce icon by clicking on it (refer to Figure 6)
- Select the name of the AppleTalk zone which contains the server you want to connect to by clicking on it
- Select the name of the server from the menu labeled Select a file server
- Click Ok

- Click OK

Finally
If you receive an Authentication Error (refer to Figure 12) after entering your BC username and password in the Connect to server as dialog box, complete the following:

- Uncheck the box labeled Require strong authentication (NTLMv2) (refer to Figure 13)
