All students who use the BC network are required to use and maintain the McAfee anti-virus software supported by Boston College. Failure to comply will result in loss of network access. In addition, if a student's computer appears to be spreading a virus on the network, the computer's network access will be suspended.
If you are currently using non supported anti-virus software, such as Norton Home, you must uninstall it prior to installing the BC version of McAfee anti-virus software. For step-by-step instructions on uninstalling unsupported anti-virus software, and installing and maintaining McAfee anti-virus, go to www.bc.edu/virus.

Mac OS X Software
Sophos Anti-Virus |
Boston College recommends Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X (10.3 and later) computers. Faculty and staff may install Sophos on their BC-owned Apple computers. Students may install Sophos on their personal Apple computers, but must remove it upon leaving BC. This installer removes McAfee Anti-Virus and earlier versions of Sophos before installing Sophos Anti-Virus. If you currently use a different anti-virus program, such as Norton, you will need to uninstall it before installing Sophos.
