Applying

boston college experience for high school students

Applicants must have completed the Junior year of high school and demonstrated superior academic ability, particularly in the area of their summer course selection. High motivation, emotional stability and social maturity are also expected. Secondary school applicants are strongly advised to bear in mind that the College Experience program is for serious students who are expected to maintain both academic and social collegiate standards. Applicants must supply secondary school grades, PSAT, SAT or ACT scores, and a recommendation from the principal or counselor.

Due to limited enrollment, students are urged to submit all application and supplementary materials as soon as possible. Students are notified of acceptance within one week after receipt of all material.

Eligibility is restricted to students completing their Junior year in high school. A complete application consists of the following:

  1. Student application form, completed by the applicant, signed by a parent of guardian, and returned with $25 non-refundable application fee. Check or money order should be made payable to Boston College.
International students should also complete and return  the I-20 Application Form with their BCE application.
  2. Transcripts and PSAT/SAT scores. You must request that these be sent directly to the Summer Session by your school.
  3. The recommendation form completed by your principal or guidance counselor.

All material should be sent to Summer Session, Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.

Fees and Charges

After acceptance, all room fees and tuition charges are due and payable in full at the time of registration.

Students (unless they live locally and commute to Boston College) must take 2 courses - they cannot take fewer or more.  BCE students pay the normal BC Summer course price which is $1770 per course (note that many are Evening courses).
Labs are additional at $755 per lab course.

Tuition money received will be returned if a student withdraws in writing on or before June 30, 2008. There is an 80% refund for those withdrawing between July 1 and July 3, 2008.  No refunds beyond this schedule.

Applicants are charged a separate non-refundable $25 application fee.

Students are expected to purchase books and course materials.

Financial aid is not available to students in the Boston College Experience Program.

Housing is $177 per week per person, room only, based on 2 students per room.
