Boston College Experience

Campus Life

Students at a talent show

Our programs focus on preparing students for their college search process through the exploration of majors and through activities that support the transition into college life. The Boston College Experience is unique in that it is rooted in the philosophies of Jesuit education, which means that all our programs and activities are centered around the values of caring for the whole person,  being men and women for others, and discernment. These values take form in reflective discussions among students, service opportunities, and seminars focused on the college search process.

Students on a campus tour

While many students are interested in attending Boston College, we are just one of many great academic institutions in the Boston area. Students will have the opportunity to visit other Boston area schools by signing up for organized weekly college tours. Past visits have included Boston University, Brown University, Harvard University, MIT, Northeastern University, and Tufts University.  These tours are complemented by seminars on various topics related to the college search process.

Boston College places a strong emphasis on the Ignatian value of being men and women for others.  The Boston College Experience Program provides a variety of opportunities for students to engage in service, both on and off campus, during the program.  In this way, students  are provided with the opportunity to take what they learn inside the classroom and and apply it to improving their communities, which allows them to experience how they can grow as individuals through service to others.

The Discover Boston series takes students off campus to explore New England. Past Discover Boston excursions have included Boston Duck Tours, whale watching, museum visits, tours of Fenway Park, Six Flags New England, and visits to beautiful beaches. These outings serve as a way for students to relax on weekends and become familiar with one of America's most historic and treasured cities.

Throughout the program experience at Boston College, students will have the opportunity to interact with current undergraduate students, staff members, and faculty in various disciplines. The Boston College Experience offers you the unique opportunity to get your questions answered by current students, faculty, and staff members. There will be many structured and informal opportunities to reflect on your experiences in service learning, your plans for college, and more.
