Students need to apply for financial aid by completing the financial aid application. The same application is used for both the summer and academic year. You do not need to submit a separate summer financial aid application if you have already completed one for the 2009-2010 academic year.
STM offers the following financial aid options during the summer session:
- Tuition Scholarships – Provide Financial Aid of up to half the cost of tuition both Academic Year and Summer.
Students eligible for Loyola Scholarships can take summer courses at up to a 70 percent reduction. (See below for more details). - Student Loans and Work Study – The Boston College Office of Student Services is responsible for administering and awarding the following need-based federal financial aid programs: Federal Direct Loans (Subsidized and Unsubsidized), Perkins Loans and Federal Work-Study. To qualify for these programs, students must have full-time status. During the summer session, full-time is at least six credit hours.
Loyola Scholarships are available to all students participating in degree or certificate programs for audit or credit. Prospective students must be working full or part-time in a church-related ministry in one of the New England dioceses or be actively involved as a volunteer for at least five years. A letter is required from your supervisor or, if involved in volunteer parish ministry, your pastor. The New England Dioceses include: Boston, Mass.; Fall River, Mass.; Springfield, Mass.; Worcester, Mass.; Providence, R.I.; Hartford, Conn.; Norwich, Conn.; Bridgeport, Conn.; Manchester, N.H.; Portland, Maine; and Burlington, Vt.
- The Loyola Scholarship Program offers up to 60 percent tuition remission for degree, certificate and continuing education students. Loyola Scholarship Funds can be applied to all courses taken. Renewal of Loyola Scholarships is not automatic and is based upon a reevaluation of the criteria mentioned above and good academic standing.
