When are the summer sessions?

Do I need to attend orientation?
Only if this is your first summer.
When and where is orientation?
Session I: Sunday, June 21, 2009 5:00-6:30 p.m. (Murray Function Room in Yawkey Center)
Session II: Sunday, July 5, 2009 5:00-6:30 p.m. (Heights Room, Corcorran Commons)
Are all events included in tuition?
No. We have a number of programs that have no cost (Faculty Conversations, Opening and Closing BBQ, ice cream social), but some student life events have additional fees (Red Sox games, Harbor Cruise, Boston sightseeing programs).

Yes. Summer Registration packets will be mailed to you before the end of March. You can also download the packet and mail it in.
HOUSING
Is there housing available?
Yes.
How do I apply for housing?
To apply for summer housing, please visit the Summer housing website.
When is check-in/ check-out?
Summer Institute students may check-in at Voute Hall on Sunday, June 21nd and Sunday, July 7th between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm. If you are checking in after 7:00 pm on these days, or on any other day, you may check in at the Welcome Center, located at 110 St. Thomas More Drive Residence Hall, across from St. Ignatius Church.
Vouté and Gabelli Halls are located within a five minute walking distance from the Welcome Center.
The Welcome Center is open from 9:00 am to 1:00 am daily. Please do not arrive outside these hours, as there will be no staff available to check you in. If you have an international flight that arrives after 1:00 am please e-mail summer.housing@bc.edu to make specific arrangements. After May 20th, you may also call the Welcome Center directly at 617-655-5555. Although the Welcome Center is open until 1:00 am, please call between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm if you have questions.
Housing check-out time is Saturday at 12:00 pm. Exception: Conference Week attendees must check out by 12:00 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2008. Check-out materials will be available in the building lobby. Those wishing to check out early must do so at the Welcome Center located in the 110 St. Thomas More Hall. Keys must be returned upon check-out. Keys not returned will result in a charge assessed to the student’s account.
How much does housing cost?
- Double–room occupancy (two people per bedroom in shared apartment): $126/week or $756/six weeks
- Single–room occupancy (one person per bedroom in shared apartment): $200/week or $1,200/six weeks
- Family occupancy (entire two bedroom apartment): $378/week or $2,268/six weeks
- Please note: Family occupancy apartments are extremely limited and will be distributed in accordance to need by STM.
Can my family live with me?
Yes. See above rates.
Is parking available?
Boston College has a pay parking system. All people using parking at Boston College are required to pay. There is an hourly parking option and Summer Institute students also have the option of purchasing weekly parking permits for Summer 2009. More Summer Institute parking information and the application for weekly permits can be obtained at Summer Parking (www.bc.edu/offices/transportation) in April 2009. Students checking into STM Summer Institute Housing on the first Sunday of each session will be given a pass to park in the Commonwealth Avenue garage until Monday afternoon. Students driving to campus for class on the first Monday of each session will also be given a day pass for that day only. In order to continue to park on campus, you must purchase your permit at Student Services by the end of that day or pay to park on a daily basis.

Is there funding available?
Yes. Funding is made available to STM degree and certificate students in a number of ways: scholarships, loans and grants

To receive funding, you need to fill out the STM Financial Aid application.

When/ Where is the Evelyn Underhill Lecture?
Saturday, July 11, 10:00 a.m. at Robsham Theater, Boston College Lower Campus.
When is the Alumni Luncheon for IREPM and WJST alumni?
The Alumni Luncheon will follow the Evelyn Underhill Lecture at noon on July 11, 2009 in the Murray Room of the Yawkey Center, Boston College Lower Campus.
