Hospitality shines through at IREPM. Social events are planned during the
academic year and summer sessions to celebrate community: small and large scale.
Summer study breaks often take the form of a small group outing to the Boston
Symphony, Fenway Park or a Whale Watch. During the Academic Year the IREPM
community gathers for a Thanksgiving Dinner and smaller, impromptu gatherings
occur for occasions such as Halloween, Mardi Gras and Marathon Monday.
Student
Life Committee
IREPM's Student Life Committee, composed of students and staff, serves a two-fold
function: first, as a forum for discussing student views on current or proposed
policies, and second, to provide support for events and activities of a social,
liturgical or cultural nature. Past events include the annual Walk for Hunger,
volunteering at food banks, Red Sox games and kayaking trips on the Charles
River. The Student Life Committee meets once a month during the academic year
and once a week during the Summer Institute.
Gathering Place
During the Summer Institute, the Gathering Place is where students come together
for conversation and relaxation. Cold drinks and munchies are available. Located
at Voute Residence Hall 304, the Gathering Place is open most evenings from
8:30-10:30 pm. Look for special celebrations or see the Summer Faculty/Student
Coordinator, if you would like to host a gathering.
July 4th on the Esplanade
During the Summer Institute the July 4th celebration takes place at the Hatch
Memorial Shell on the Charles River Esplanade, and include the Boston Pops
Orchestra
with Keith Lockhart conducting. At 10:30 pm there is a fireworks display to
music dubbed a pyromusical. For more information see www.july4th.org and

Boston Harbor Cruise
The IREPM sponsors at least one harbor cruise during the Summer Institute.
The Student Life Committee often sponsors a harbor cruise in the academic
year.
The boats sail from the Marriot Long Wharf in Boston and cruise for 3 hours.
They include dinner and/or hors d'oeuvres.

Red Sox
During the summer session, the IREPM also organizes outings to Fenway Park for
a couple of Red Sox games. Tickets are available at a group rate through the
IREPM. Look for more information in the summer announcements and Outreach Newsletter.
