Financial Aid
how to apply

Students must apply for financial aid each year.

STM FINANCIAL AID PROCESS

Boston College School of Theology and Ministry (STM) awards several types of STM financial assistance. When you complete and return the STM Financial Aid Application, you are automatically considered for all financial assistance for which you may be eligible.

Additionally, the University awards need-based Federal Direct Loans (Subsidized and Unsubsidized). To apply for federal aid, you will also need to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and also complete and submit the Boston College Graduate Financial Aid Application/Validation. Information and forms are available through the Boston College Office of Student Services located in Lyons Hall. Go to http://www.bc.edu/offices/stserv or call 617-552-3300 for more information. Please note that Federal Stafford loans are only available for U.S. citizens and residents. Additionally, Federal Loans are not available to STL or STD degree seeking students.

Students applying to IREPM programs should submit all 3 forms:

Financial Aid Notification Applicants typically receive notification after the following conditions have been met:

Boston College Notification of Federal-based Loan Financial Aid will occur when:

  • There is the admissions decision to accept
  • The FAFSA and Boston College Graduate Financial Aid Application/Validation have been received and processed.

Applicants whose Financial Aid applications with Boston College’s Office of Student Services are complete will receive notice of any federal loans awarded to them as early as possible after acceptance. This notice will be sent to the accepted student by the Boston College Office of Student Services - Financial Aid Office, Lyons 120.

Please note that if you receive a scholarship after you receive your loan package, your loan package will have to be adjusted downward. The government has a limit on the total amount of aid a student can receive. Contact the Boston College Office of Student Services if you have any questions about federal loans.
