Academic Life at the Institute

Academic Life at IREPM can mean full-time or part-time study, in a class or online, during the academic year or over the summer, evening lectures or weekend workshops. Our student body is diverse and the academic pursuits of our students range from taking one online course to completing a degree. We embrace and welcome this diversity and we also encourage our students to explore all aspects of academic life here at IREPM. Students taking one course or several courses might want to attend an IREPM sponsored evening lecture or brown-bag lunch discussion. All academic events are listed in the Academic Calendar and are free and open to the IREPM community unless otherwise noted.

Faculty Conversations
During the Summer Institute the IREPM offers a number of informal evening conversations with summer faculty. Professors will offer brief remarks on their current scholarly interests and implications for religious education and pastoral ministry with ample opportunity for dialogue with students. These are usually held every Tuesday for the 6 week summer session.

Dual Degree Forums
Dual Degree forums have been instituted by MA/MSW and MA/MA student groups who have found these forums to be a great time to gather with students in the same program, catch up with one another and get the scoop on professors, classes and field placement opportunities. Completely student organized, the dual degree students of each program determine the dates and content of the forums. Past forums have included the inviting of professors to facilitate conversations regarding their particular area of expertise, inviting of dual degree alumni to speak with students about how they are using their degrees in the field, and social gathering among students.
