President, Walsh Jesuit High School, Diocese of Cleveland

What draws you to this work?

My main attraction to secondary education has always been the influence we can have on the lives of young people at this time in their lives. I believe Jesuit high schools have a particular gift to offer the world via the educating of young men and women who will be significant leaders in our world. This is a tremendous opportunity and a privilege for which I am extremely grateful.

What are the challenges of your ministry?
The biggest challenge facing me as president is to keep the cost of a Jesuit education affordable and accessible to as many families as is possible. Given the economic reality of Northeast Ohio, this is a significant challenge.

What in your ministry gives you hope?
I find myself receiving hope from the young men and women who walk the hallways of Walsh Jesuit. They are truly gifted and wonderful young people--clear examples of God’s goodness to us.

How did IREPM contribute to your skills and capacity to minister?
My years at BC provided me with a solid theological foundation and practical skills in working with others--adults as well as adolescents. Beyond the practical skills, I believe my years at IREPM simply gave me a confidence that I could take on significant leadership within the Church and had gifts to offer the Church and the people of God.
