MA/MSW Dual Degree
pastoral ministry and social work

The MA/MSW dual degree has been very popular with students who want to work as counselors in residential day programs for the homeless, and in family shelters, in the courts as advocates, and as therapists and hospital chaplains. The degree has special appeal to students who have previous work or volunteer experience in the area of social justice and with various groups such as Jesuit Volunteer Corp and Jesuit Volunteer International, CHANNEL, AmeriCorps, Marist and many others.

The goals of the dual degree are to develop the formation and credentials necessary to plan, administer and/or provide social services within a local church or church-related agency and to offer the opportunity to integrate pastoral sensitivity with social work in any setting.
