Katherine Greiner, Ph.D. ’15
After she graduated from Weston Jesuit School of Theology with a master’s degree in theological studies in 2007, Katherine Greiner took a teaching job at a girls’ high school in Boston, planning to return in two years to pursue a Ph.D. “But I loved teaching so much that I stayed for four years,” she says.
When Greiner heard about the doctoral program in theology and education at Boston College, she saw an opportunity to bring together her two main passions. “It was the only program I applied to,” she recalls.
The opportunity to stay in Boston appealed to Greiner, too. “I love this area, and I love the mission of the School of Theology and Ministry,” she says. “From my days at Weston, I already knew that this place is all about academic excellence, and that I would be held to a high standard in my work.”
“The professors in my doctoral program trust me as a scholar and encourage me to build my coursework and papers around the issues and questions that are important to me,” she notes. “That helps me lay the foundation for future projects.”
