Welcome to the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, a center of academic, theological, and spiritual development for lay and religious women and men from all over the world.

Our mission is to promote the Catholic theological tradition through rigorous academic inquiry, pastoral experience and reflection, and a vibrant prayer community.

Our students engage faith and culture in preparing for leadership positions in the Church in a diverse and ever-changing world. They have ample opportunity -- and are encouraged -- to pursue interdisciplinary study as well as ecumenical and interreligious dialogue.  The resources of both a world-class university and a city with an incredibly rich culture make the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry an epicenter of religious dialogue and theological inquiry.  Our students are challenged in the classroom by a first-rate faculty and supported by a community of peers from myriad cultural, religious, and academic backgrounds. The Jesuit tradition of whole person education is embodied in the school’s pillars of academic, pastoral, spiritual and human formation.

With 29 full-time faculty members, combined with another 32 members in the Department of Theology, Boston College has the largest theology faculty in North America. In addition to our own offerings, the STM is a member of the Boston Theological Institute, one of America’s most respected consortia of divinity schools, graduate schools, and theological centers.  For research and studying, students have access to the vast collection of theological texts and resources at the Theology and Ministry Library (TML), the greater Boston College library system, and the libraries of our BTI peer schools. Finally, when not in the classroom, our students pursue a variety of activities, including volunteer opportunities in Boston, participation in STM student organizations, and personal formation opportunities.

I am delighted to welcome you and thank you for your interest in our school.  Please let our admissions office know if you are interested in visiting or learning more about us. We look forward to meeting you!
