Encountering the Risen Christ: The Primary Task of Catechesis and Pastoral Ministry
ANNUAL MINISTRY RENEWAL DAY
November 14, 2008
Presenters: Thomas Groome, STM professor of theology and religious education and chair of the Department of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry, and Jane Regan, STM associate professor of theology and religious education.
The General Catechetical Directory makes clear that the defining purpose of catechesis is that people come to personally encounter the Risen Christ and to embrace a life of discipleship to Jesus. What does such an encounter and commitment mean and how can catechists and pastoral ministers intentionally promote as much? These questions shape the presentations and conversations of this Ministry Renewal Day.
Cosponsored by the School of Theology and Ministry and The Church in the 21st Century Center.
