STM Grad House

school of theology and ministry

(Grad House is full for 2009-2010)

General Description
The Boston College School of Theology and Ministry facilitates the placement of students and other students enrolled in BC graduate schools in a residence that will support their educational experience. Many students find the community atmosphere at the residence supportive of their educational and personal goals. The community respects students’ need for personal space and academics while offering social opportunities to build relationships.

The house is divided into two apartments; each of which provides a living room, kitchen, two bathrooms, free laundry facilities and outdoor porches.  The twelve bedrooms, five in one apartment, seven in the other, contain an extra long twin-size bed. All are equipped for individual phone lines and are cable ready. The residence, located less than one mile from the Boston College campus, is convenient to library, computer, dining and gym facilities. Shopping, theater and restaurants are all within a five minute walk from the house.  Public transportation is available to and from Boston College either via the free Boston College student shuttle or MBTA public trolley; both pass in front of the house. A limited number of free parking spaces are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Graduate House Community

Community Life

Collaborative structures for planning and developing a social, intellectual, and spiritual climate within the residence are established by the residents of the Grad House.  Ensuring mutuality and support while respecting individual differences is essential to the functioning of this housing situation.  These goals require collaboration and open communication, attentiveness to fellow residents’ needs for companionship and solitude, a cooperative spirit and the ability to work with housemates to ensure a quality of life congenial to all.

Board Plan
Students at the STM Grad House have the option of using the Boston College Board Plan for meals. A student can deposit from $100 to $800 each semester in their Eagle Bucks account and then utilize their Boston College Identification Card (BCID) to charge meals and merchandise at on campus outlets against this amount. When the amount is depleted, more money must be deposited to continue the plan.

Eligibility
This residence is for current Boston College graduate students; those accepted into the School of Theology and Ministry are given priority.
