The Campus Minister has a central role in facilitating the people, programming, and resources of the Sacred Heart community on behalf of a comprehensive ministry effort. The essential goals of this position are to lead and guide young people to grow in the knowledge of the Catholic faith, in the practice of that faith in light of the principles of Catholic social teaching, Christian morality and social justice, and in the development of their spiritual lives. The Campus Minister works closely in a collaborative partnership with administration, faculty and staff to advise, minister, and guide students and staff and to promote the Mission and Charism of the Sisters of Divine Providence along with the Catholic identity and Mission of Sacred Heart School.
As the Campus Minister serves all students from Pre-school through 12, he/she is a visible presence at all three school buildings on the Sacred Heart School Campus. The Campus Minister has responsibilities encompassing the school mission, liturgical planning, community service, supporting religious educations, pastoral support and outreach, and other responsibilities. The Campus Minister reports to the Principals of the high school and the elementary school divisions.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Love of children and teenagers and a desire to journey with them
Master’s degree in theology, pastoral ministry, pastoral administration, education or related field
Two years minimum experience preferred in ministering as a Campus Minister and in working with and understanding children and teenagers
Commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church and is a practicing Catholic in good standing
Creativity and forward thinking
An ability to motivate and encourage students in preparation of and participation in the liturgical and community service life of the school
An ability to perform duties with a sense of compassion, energy, openness, and flexibility
Organizational skills with the ability to attend to details; ability to multi-task, as well as plan and facilitate meetings and events
Demonstrate strong interpersonal and human relations skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Imagination, creativity, flexibility, patience, and an appropriate sense of humor
Proficiency in social media, Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
