Objectives of position:

This internship opportunity will focus on student development and understanding of our mission, identity, and history as a Catholic college rooted in the liberal arts and sciences. Through programs, education, and service, this position will work with students, faculty and staff to engage them and infuse mission into their daily lives at Emmanuel College.

Position responsibilities:

The 1804 Society

Co-Advise the 1804 Society (leadership team and society members)

  • The 1804 Society is a student leadership organization at Emmanuel College. The society, named in honor of the founding year of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, continues the tradition of mission at Emmanuel through a deeper understanding of the SNDs, the College history and Catholic identity.
  • This includes planning and implementation of program curriculum, retreats, executive board planning days, and leadership development opportunities

Programs and Annual Traditions

Work closely with the staff to implement:

  • Founders’ Week
  • Sister Marie Augusta Neal, SND Lecture
  • Supper with the Sisters

2013 – 2014 Graduate Assistant, Center for Mission Engagement, Emmanuel College

  • Mass of the Holy Spirit
  • Faculty and Staff Luncheon Series
  • SND Jubilee Fund Walk

Community Development, Engagement and Service

  • Promote the Notre Dame Mission Volunteers/Americorps Program
  • Facilitate the application process for the St. Julie Billiart Summer Community Service Fellowship

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Sit on the SAINTS Committee, Student Affairs Integrating the Notre dame Tradition and Spirituality
  • Assist with the coordination of the St. Julie Billiart & St. Catherine Medal selection
  • Serve on various committees on behalf of student affairs and/or mission and ministry
  • Promote the SND College Exchange program
  • Attend weekly mission and ministry staff meetings
  • Assist with college-wide traditions and annual events that celebrate our unique history
  • Collaborate with various offices throughout the college including alumni relations, the office of the president, student affairs, and academic affairs to preserve the mission of the college through programs and services
  • Possible involvement with immersion experiences for students and alumni
  • Other duties as assigned
