Campus Minister/Theology Teacher
Regina Dominican High
The Campus Minister/Theology teacher functions in accordance with the policies and procedures of Regina Dominican and is directly accountable to the Theology Department Chairperson. Campus Ministry at Regina Dominican High School is rooted in social teaching of the Catholic Church, mission of Jesus and the charism of the Dominican Order. The Campus Minister provides pastoral care for the young women, initiates opportunities for faith development, and interfaith collaboration. There are six major areas of responsibility to the position: liturgies, retreats, service projects, Dominican preachers, Youth Ministry Team and teaching in the Theology Department.
Roles and Responsibilities
Schedules and plans all-school liturgies and prayer services in consultation with interested students and faculty members.
Coordinates appropriate environments for all school liturgies and prayer services.
Obtains ministers and supplies for liturgies.
Provides formation for students who wish to serve as liturgical ministers (readers, cantors,
servers, Eucharistic ministers, etc.)
Maintains the chapel and sacristy.
Schedules school sponsored events, liturgies, prayer services, etc.
Obtains personnel, facilities and supplies for all school retreats, including Kairos.
Prepares students and adults to serve as retreat team members and facilitators.
Directs and/or assists at retreats.
Makes and maintains contact with social justice agencies requesting service.
Identifies the nature of the services requested.
Prepares students and adults for participation in service activities
Publicizes and facilitates participation in service activities.
Processes the service experience in light of the Gospel. Dominican Preachers
Recruits, selects and trains students to serve as members of the Dominican Preachers.
Accompanies students to the annual Dominican Preaching Conference.
Collaborates with the President of the school with all matters related to the Dominican
Supports the Dominican Preachers as they enact their yearly goals.
Promotes the work of the Dominican Preachers through printed material, , school website,
public commissioning, liturgies, prayer services, and other projects.
Youth Ministry Team
Recruits and selects members from all classes to serve as members of the Youth Ministry Team.
Provides information, skill development and leadership training for the team.
Provides supervision and support for the team.
Collaborates in student leadership programs.
Theology Department Teaching
• As a member of the Theology Department, the campus minister may be asked to teach select courses. Classes are distributed to the faculty members after discussion with the department chairperson.
Articulates the pastoral needs and concerns of the young woman to the faculty, administration and the local church.
Offers pastoral counseling to students, faculty and staff as requested.
Establishes and maintains contacts with church and local agencies who serve youth.
Serves on the School Crisis Team.
Works closely with the Theology Department in regards to catechetical issues.
Maintains records and files of programs and activities.
Maintains financial records of revenues received and prepares a yearly budget.
Maintains active membership in professional societies and associations.
Engages in professional development through seminars, workshops, conferences, etc.
Participates as a member of the Student Life Issues committee.
Ability to teach all levels of Theology to grades 9-12
Campus Ministry experience preferred
Candidate must be a practicing Catholic
B.A. in Theology, M.A. preferred
