Campus Minister I
Assist in providing pastoral care to students with special attention to students' experiential knowledge of Catholic social teaching achieved through volunteer service to others while on domestic and international Alternative Spring Break/immersion trips. Help to implement the strategic plan for the Office of Mission and Ministry
1. Assist the Chaplain in achieving the yearly and strategic goals of Campus Ministry.
2. Organize and promote student volunteer service and social justice ministries, including:
a. Provide opportunities for students to serve those in need through domestic and international service opportunities (e.g., NOLA Immersion, Habitat for Humanity, Mustard Seed Community, the Haitian Project);
b. Provide opportunities for students to reflect on their experience of service;
c. Educate students about Catholic social thought through lectures and discussion groups;
d. Work collaboratively with Catholic Relief Services and other organizations to increase the number of opportunities available to students and to insure the quality of both.
3. Provide opportunities for student leadership within Campus Ministry and its various ministries and service:
a. Supervise student leaders;
b. Assist with student leadership training and skill development.
4. Provide Pastoral care to students:
a. Welcome students for one-on-one meetings, both scheduled and unscheduled
b. Work collaboratively with other staff members on the Retreats Program
Graduate degree in Theology from an accredited institution, pastoral ministry, or related field. Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing who is comfortable with, and knowledge about, the faith. Must possess good teamwork and communication skills. Familiarity with the needs and issues of college students and a willingness to accommodate student schedules. Experience with faith based service and peer ministry. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, and other computer skills. Experience with planning, developing, and leading international service trips preferred.
