Including persons with autism in faith communities and catechetical settings is a critical component of faith formation for the person with autism, their family, and the parish. This workshop will define autism and will offer guidance and practical strategies for parish leaders, parents, and catechists who encounter children or adults with autism. Emphasis will be given to welcoming and inclusive practices and how families can support their child’s faith formation through the sacramental grace of daily routines.  Register

Generously supported by the Pyne Endowment Trust, in memory of Professor Margaret E. Pyne, a lifelong advocate for persons with disabilities.

Sue Swanson is a speech/language pathologist with 25 years experience working with children with autism.  She is presently working on the Certificate of Advanced Educational Specialization (CAES), a post-Master’s degree, at the School of Theology and Ministry.
