Welcome

Richard Clifford, S.J.Welcome to the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry (STM), founded in June 2008, the first new professional school at Boston College since 1952. Not entirely new, however, for two previously existing institutions have come together into one - to serve, learn, and teach with greater effectiveness. The institutions are Weston Jesuit School of Theology (now the Weston Jesuit Department) and the Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry (now the IREPM Department), and are joined by C21 Online, which is innovating education with online studies and formation.

We hope to retain the freshness and imagination that comes with what is brand new, and to combine that youthful spirit with the wisdom and achievement of our faculty members and administrators. The two institutions have been operating for a combined total of 137 years!

Thank you for visiting the web site. I hope that you will see for yourself the good beginning that has been made and share some of the excitement of the School. We are young, yet because our components - IREPM, Weston Jesuit, and C21 Online - have accomplished much already as separate entities, we can hope we will achieve more as we work together.

Richard J. Clifford, S.J.
Dean, Boston College School of Theology and Ministry
