I applied to the Master’s Entry program directly out of college, and BC was my top choice. I was familiar with BC, had a high regard for the School of Nursing, and liked the location—close enough to Boston, but not right in the city. The Master’s Entry program was incredibly intense, but the faculty and staff were very supportive; everyone is looking out for students’ well being both academically and personally.
I current work as a community health nurse for the VNA of Boston. I find my job to be incredibly challenging and rewarding. Taking on someone completely new to nursing was in some ways a risk for the VNA. There is so little oversight in home-based care—I am out there on my own most of the time. The people at the VNA really understand my limits but also recognize and value my advanced degree.
