As a member of the Adult Health Nursing Department I was involved in theory, clinical and on-line teaching for students from baccalaureate to Ph.D. level and the continuing education program.  I was especially interested in combining attention to lifelong human growth and development with the promotion of health. My research included educational and clinical projects.  In education, I studied ways to improve multiple choice tests and  means to help students prepare for testing, especially licensing exams. This led to tutoring of individuals,  and workshops for nursing schools. Clinical studies focused on validation of nursing diagnoses and an intervention study for ambulatory surgery patients.  I continue active membership in professional associations especially MARN,ANA,Sigma Theta Tau International and NANDA International.

Patient responses to experiences of ambulatory surgery; assessment and intervention by telephone with ambulatory surgery patients; validation ofnursing diagnoses; predictive value of selected variables for successful licensing exam performance; effectiveness of interventions in promoting successful licencing exam performance

appointments & awards

• 2002-2007 Presented annual Jean A. O'Neil Nursing Achievement award established by School of Nursing faculty upon my retirement to selected baccalaureate graduates at commencement weekend nursing convocations.
• 2004 Consultant for University Technology Grant, Boston College William F. Connell School of Nursing, to develop on-line teaching certificate course sequence. Wrote and produced course modules and instructional video
  
• 2000-2005 Co-investigator AREA grant National Institute of Nursing Research (R-15): “Efficacy of Nurse Coaching to Aid Ambulatory Surgical /Patients”
