Dr. Lois A.Haggerty (BSN, Simmons College, MS, Boston College, PhD, Boston College) has been a member of the BCSON faculty since 1977. Her research publications have focused on the clinical decision-making of experienced and expert intrapartal nurses in fetal risk situations, and on various issues concerning women who are victims of interpersonal violence. Dr. Haggerty is involved in the Maternal-Child Health Department’s collaborative study of the impact of violence during pregnancy and has presented at National and International conferences on this topic. She also volunteers as a victim advocate in the community domestic violence victim assistant program in Concord, Ma. A women’s health nurse practitioner, Dr. Haggerty co-teaches the women’s health advanced practice class with Dr. Joellen Hawkins and is active in women’s health clinical practice. She has served as program director for the Master’s Entry into Nursing Program since its inception in September, 1999.
