the roy adaptation model

The Roy Adaptation Model is utilized internationally in practice, education and research. Over the past 30 years, invited speeches, consultations, and peer-reviewed papers on topics related to nursing theory, research, curriculum, clinical practice and professional trends for the future have taken Dr. Roy to nearly all 50 states of the USA; five provinces of Canada; Mexico, Peru and Chile; three states in Australia; 12 countries of Europe; Korea, and three Departments in Japan. Upcoming commitments include Switzerland and China. Sr. Callista Roy's books on nursing practice have been translated into a dozen languages. This area of the web site will include updates on international coverage of the Roy Adaptation Model.

Article in French - Family intervention according to Roy. The author presents a care plan based upon Sr. Callista Roy's conceptual model, that is recognized as well as suited to the family system. This, the first of two-part series, focuses on the first two steps of the care plan - the theoretical and practical aspects of data collection and data analysis. The subjects are a single mother and her son.

The October 2002 edition of Aquichan featured an interview with Sr. Callista Roy, along with several articles on the Roy Adaptation Model. The magazine is published by the University of Sabana School of Nursing in Bogota, Colombia. Sr. Callista met with faculty from the University of Sabana in February 2002 when she spoke at the International Nursing Forum in El Salvador. She also addressed a conference sponsored by the University of Sabana by video conference from Boston College in August 2002.

The Japanese Journal of Nursing Research
Vol. 36, No. 1, Jan/Feb 2003 No. 173

The January/February 2003 issue of the Japanese Journal of Nursing Research focused on the Roy Adaptation Model. The jounral included an article by Sr. Callista Roy entitled: "Reflections on Nursing Reserach and the Roy Adaptation Model." Dr. Jacqueline Fawcett also contributed a piece to the journal based on the paper she presented at last year's RAA Conference: "The Roy Adaptation Model: A Program of Nursing Research." RAA Member, Sumiko Tsuchako intiated this project and wrote the article: "Roy Adaptation Nursing Model-based Research: A brief overview and introduction of synthesizing research from 1995 through 2001."
