Care of underserved populations, particularly the Hispanic population; international work in Ecuador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.

A double eagle graduate of Boston College's School of Nursing ('72, '98), Rosemary Byrne joined the full time faculty in community health in September of 2010. However, since the 1990s, Rosemary has been connected with the School of Nursing through the joint Por Cristo/Boston College community health immersion program, in which Boston College students work with the poor on Isla Trinitaria in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

After receiving her undergraduate degree from Boston College, Rosemary worked in the hospital setting in pediatrics and adult care medicine. Most of her career has been spent in international nursing and administration in Ecuador, through the organization Por Cristo, co-founded by her brother Martin J. Dunn '57, in San Lucas Tollman, Guatemala where she worked with many volunteer organizations, and most recently in Nicaragua with the Global Health Initiative alongside Dr. Ronna Krozy and Connell School undergraduate and graduate students.

Since her graduation from the School of Nursing in 1998, she has worked as a family nurse practitioner and most recently as clinical director at Atreva Health Care, an inner city family practice providing health care to the underserved populations of Boston, mostly Latinos. Rosemary is a strong advocate for equal health care access for the underserved.

She and her husband Tom are the parents of four children, Michael '98, Brendan, Aidan, Roisin and the proud grandparents of four (soon to be five) grandchildren, Emma, Claire, Devin, Maeve and Liam.
