The Boston College William F. Connell School of Nursing Continuing Education Program offers you the opportunity to meet the above challenges with our RN Refresher Certificate Program.
You may design your own schedule by entering our program at any time and sequencing the courses to fit your individual needs and goals. We offer small to medium size classes with one-on-one attention. Upon completion, your résumé will look professional and you will be prepared for those difficult interviews.
We feature qualified faculty, our own simulation laboratory, and access to current educational materials. Our program consists of comprehensive refresher courses followed by a required Clinical Placement in a setting aimed at your employment goal..
Courses can be taken on a flexible schedule. On the fast track, all course work can be completed within 10 weeks, though you are free to spread it out over several semesters.

- Inactive registered Nurses
- Foreign graduates preparing for licensure exam
- Advanced Practice nurses reentering workforce
- Nurses changing specialties or careers
- Administrators or others desiring to update their clinical knowledge
CLINICAL PLACEMENTS
This one day clinical observation experience allows students to see the roles and responsibilities of the nurse today. Boston College collaborates with a variety of clinical settings to meet the learning needs of participants. Previous placements and collaborations include Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care, Boston College's Health Services and Campus School, as well as various local hospice and visiting nurse associations.
TO EARN A CERTIFICATE A PARTICIPANT MUST
- Successfully complete the five required courses within a two year period
- Apply for, be accepted into, and complete the Clinical Placement within two years of entering the program

- RN Refresher: Update in Nursing I
- RN Refresher: Update in Nursing II
- RN Refresher: Clinical Placement
- Adult Health Assessment
- Peripheral IV Therapy
- Central Line Therapy

individually.
