Advanced Conversational Medical Spanish

This course is designed for students who have completed the three previous Conversational Medical Spanish courses and have completed the studies of the highest grammar level of Spanish (such as Conditional tenses and the Subjunctive Mood). The class will be conducted only in Spanish. It is designed to serve those in the medical professions who seek high conversational skills in Spanish at the highest level of proficiency.
This course will present students with realistic situations such as medical students, pre-professionals and professionals will encounter in everyday life with Spanish speaking patients and personnel in the United States. Attention is paid to particular healthcare workplaces with attention to specialized vocabulary and conversations for each Medical Profession. Students will get the opportunity to practice through role playing, dialogue completions, monologs, translations and other activities how to communicate and give instructions about very important health issues. Also, there will be readings that highlight Hispanic customs, traditions, and discussions on different health issues of interest.
Topics of grammar to review throughout conversations: Present and Past Perfect tenses, Future and Conditional tenses, and all the forms of the Subjunctive mood. If necessary, any other topics of grammar will be reviewed.
