From the Dean

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
When a new dean arrives, changes are bound to follow. Though my tenure at the Connell School of Nursing is past its "freshman orientation" stage, exciting new changes are taking place here. This issue of Voice magazine highlights some of them, focusing on Connell School people, programs, and accomplishments that are enhancing the field of nursing: the launch of our pioneering pediatric palliative care program, new faculty, a new website, and this magazine itself.
Voice also showcases the School's venerable history with a feature on Rita Kelleher's extraordinary legacy, and presents an interview with Genevieve Foley '66, a pediatric oncology nurse who last spring received the second annual Dean Rita P. Kelleher Award.
In the next issue, Voice will spotlight federally funded research projects led by Connell School faculty.
As the Connell School continues to innovate and change, we will report news and developments on our newly revamped website, www.bc.edu/cson, and in this magazine. Alumni notes will be in Boston College Magazine.
We hope you enjoy reading and sharing the latest Connell School news in this issue of Voice as this extraordinary institution continues its mission of preparing nurses to practice, do research, and lead in exciting new ways.
With warm regards,
Susan Gennaro, Ph.D., RN, DSN, FAAN
Dean and Professor
