Alum recognized by NGNA
William F. Connell School of Nursing alum Arlene Stoller M.S., RN was chosen as the 2013 recipient of the Excellence in Gerontological Nursing Award (APRN) by the National Gerontological Nursing Association (NGNA). Stoller will receive her award at the NGNA Annual Convention in October.
According to NGNA, The Excellence in Gerontological Nursing Awards has been established to recognize excellence in individuals who provide care to older adults. These awards are intended to honor an advanced practice registered nurse, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and/or a certified nursing assistant who has consistently provided outstanding care to older adults and have been inspirational role models and mentors to other healthcare workers.
Stoller was nominated by Susan Bellofatto, RN, BSN, a Certified Geriatric Nurse and peer at the Lahey Clinic. Of Stoller, Bellofatto said, “Arlene is a true professional, she is always providing introductory NICHE education to over 1000 nursing colleagues; facilitating the training of 50 unit based GRNs (Geriatric Resource Nurses); creating evidence-based tools, such as the Geriatric Initial Risk Assessment tool and the Potential Risk for Geriatric Syndromes Plan of Care; serving as the nursing lead for the Delirium and the Move for Health- Ambulation projects.
