Associate Professor Judith Shindul-Rothschild wrote chapter 61, Collective Bargaining in Nursing, in the text Policy and Politics in Nursing and Health Care, sixth edition, edited by Diana J. Mason, Judith J. Leavitt, and Mary W. Chaffee. The American Journal of Nursing (AJN) named this text “Book of the Year” for 2011 in two different categories, Community-Public Health and History-Public Policy.
AJN’s panel of judges chose the most valuable texts of 2011. The Community-Public Health award was chosen by Chosen by Anne Katz, PhD, RN, clinical nurse specialist, CancerCare Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and the History and Public Policy award was chosen by Chosen by Donna Diers, PhD, RN, FAAN, Annie W. Goodrich Professor Emerita, Yale University School of Nursing, New Haven, CT.
Policy and Politics in Nursing and Health Care, sixth edition was also given a complimentary review in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). In her review, Dr. Marla Salmon writes that the book is a "rich, intellectually stimulating text that both informs and celebrates nursing engagement in policy and politics." The review appears in the January 4, 2012 issue (vol. 307, no. 1, pp. 94-95).
