AANM visits CSON
Associate Professor and founding member of he American Assembly for Men in Nursing (AANM), Danny Willis, DNS, PMHCNS-BC, hosted Gerald Brown RN, BSN, President of the New England Chapter of the AANM, at the Connell School. Brown, along with colleagues in various stages of their careers, spent time with current CSON male undergraduate and graduate students sharing their stories.
Each man had a different route of entry into nursing, but all concluded that they had a passion for helping patients. They spoke of the stigma around being a male in the nursing field, but also about the success in their career that they have experienced. They encouraged the young men in the room to stick with nursing, pursue their education, and always remember that to be a good nurse, you need to be active and present at the bedside.
