Ph.D. student invited to NIH institute
Allison Walker, a Ph.D. student in the Connell School of Nursing, will attend the National Institute of Nursing Research’s Summer Genetics Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, from June 4–29. The institute, held at the campus of the National Institutes of Health, seeks to augment the research capability among graduate students and faculty and to develop and expand clinical practice in genetics among clinicians through classroom and laboratory components. Participants, who receive eight credit-hours for completing the program, gain an understanding of the applications of genetics in research and therapy, as well as the legal and ethical implications of genetic testing. Walker is one of only 24 graduate students, faculty, and clinicians chosen to attend this year’s institute.
