Nursing Research reappointments

Professors Dorothy Jones and Judith Vessey have both been reappointed to the editorial board of Nursing Research.

Nursing Research is a sought-after nursing resource that reports empirical findings from the highest quality basic and clinical research. The journal is focused primarily on understanding health and illness experiences and estimating the impact of nursing systems and therapeutic actions on human health.

Dorothy Jones is a professor of adult health and served as chair of the adult health department at the School of Nursing from 1995 to 1999. She is a senior nurse scientist at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and is currently president of the Eastern Nursing Research Society. Jones’s research includes a NIH-funded study focusing on patients’ recovery at home following ambulatory surgery, and developing and testing a practice model related to Margaret Newman’s Health as Expanding Consciousness.

Judith Vessey is the inaugural Lelia Holden Carroll Chair in nursing, awarded to outstanding teachers and researchers in the Connell School. Vessey has dedicated her time and research to caring for children, especially those in primary care or at risk for chronic conditions. Her current interests are in the area of psychological and physical health of children and adolescents who are the victims of chronic teasing or bullying.
