On July 7, 2010, a group of psychiatric mental health experts from Japan visited the Connell School to discuss the creation of a graduate nursing program in their hospital. The guests met with Associate Dean for Graduate Programs Patricia Tabloski, Professor and Nurse Theorist Sr. Callista Roy, Assistant Clinical Professor Pamela Terreri, and Yumi Murai, a master's entry student from Japan.
The group, comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, and a psychiatric nurse, hopes to establish a graduate nursing program in psychiatric mental health nursing at the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry (NCNP).
The visit was facilitated by Kim Larsson MSN '93, Ph.D. '08. Larsson is the co-director of Boston Behavioral Medicine, a collaborative group of behavioral health care providers who specialize in behavioral medicine and psychotherapy. She worked with one of the visitors, psychologist Dr. Masaru Horikoshi, at the Behavioral Medicine Department of the Cambridge Health Alliance of Harvard Medical school from 1998–2000.
