Jane M. Flanagan

Assistant Professor Jane M. Flanagan received the 2010 Research for Practice Writer’s Award for her article “The Long-Term Lived Experience of Patients with Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators” published in MEDSUG Nursing: The Journal of Adult Health.

The award to recognize clinical scholarship was given out at the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN) annual convention in October. AMSN is dedicated to promoting excellence in medical-surgical nursing.

Flanagan’s article explores the nurse’s role in guiding patients with implanted defibrillators, as well as their families’ role in recovery.
