Sandra MottPediatric Health Department Chair Sandra Mott also has National Voice as President of Society of Pediatric Nurses

Dr. Mott incorporates her own research at the National level, focusing on exploring the parental perspective of parenting / caring / living with a chronic critically ill child. In her latest letter to SPN, Dr. Mott discusses The National Initiative for Children's Health Care Quality as well as her efforts in leading a task force to combat childhood obesity.

Sr. Callista Roy Named Living Legend in the American Academy of Nursing

Boston College's "Love Your Body Week" is entirely devoted to educating students and the community about the serious nature and pervasiveness of eating disorders. One of the week's main activities is a jeans drive to collect used jeans that will be donated to St. Patrick's Shelter for Homeless Women and Transitional Housing. True Jeans will give each "jeans donor" a 15% discount towards a new pair great fitting jeans. Adrian Smith, Research Coordinator for Boston College's Eating Disorder Research Team states, "we want to reward people for being true to their real bodies. Faculty Elected Officer of American Assembly for Men in Nursing

Dr. Danny G. Genesis Scholarship Awarded to Mary Ann Breen

Mary Ann BreenOne of the nation's largest long-term health care providers with more than 200 skilled nursing centers and assisted living residences in 13 states, Genesis earlier this year established a loan forgiveness program at BC that provides financial assistance to Connell School of Nursing graduate students intested in geriatric nursing. Recently, the Connell School announced that Mary Ann Breen '94 has been named the inaugural recipient of the Genesis HealthCare Scholarship.

Healthfair Affirms Community Health Focus

On Saturday, May 5, more than 200 adults and children received free care and health information at a Boston health fair sponsored by the Connell School of Nursing and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The fair was organized by Assistant Professor Jennifer Dacey Allen, nursing students in her Community Health Nursing clinical, and Dana Mars '07, Allen's research assistant, in conjunction with Rev. Nicolas Homicil, pastor of The Voice of the Gospel Tabernacle, Mattapan.

She has been an extraordinary and tireless worker for the improvement of the physical and mental health of the disadvantaged.
