Nicaragua Immersion Program
connell school global experience
The William F. Connell School of Nursing Global Health Initiative is a clinical experience through Boston College. Under faculty supervision, undergraduate and graduate students provide primary care, nursing service, and health education in one of the poorest communities in Nicaragua.
Through collaboration with Augsburg College's Center for Global Education, students also learn about the Nicaraguan health, social and political systems. They may also opt for informal Spanish tutoring by native speaking Boston College student peers. Immersion in Nicaragua and this language training greatly enhance students’ cultural competence and ability to interact with similar patients in the United States.
The trip to Nicaragua is open to undergraduate students and graduate students. Contact either Clinical Instructor Rosemary Byrne or Global Health Initiative Coordinator Ronna Krozy if you are interested in this program or with questions.
