synopsis
Evidence-Based Practice has been defined as the process by which nurses and other professionals make clinical decisions by taking into consideration the best available research evidence, their own clinical expertise and preferences of the patient and their family. There are, however, important conceptual and practical issues that stand in the way of widespread acceptance and support of evidence-based nursing practice. Dr. McCabe will discuss the importance of evidence-based nursing practice including the barriers to implementation and strategies, which can be used to translate research findings into practice. This discussion will include issues unique to research conducted with pediatric patients.
