synopsis
Nursing knowledge development has evolved over time and has included a number of perspectives, including Fawcetts analogy of the double helix DNA design to describe the close relationship between research and theory. Presently, various forms of inquiry are being utilized to gain knowledge, including both the problem solving and human centered approaches. This presentation will focus on the integral relationship between quantitative and qualitative research designs in the development of knowledge directed towards challenging emotional responses to childbirth.
